Revised International Prognostic Scoring System for myelodysplastic syndromes (IPSS-R). For IPSS-M (with gene mutations), use its official calculator.

Cytogenetic group
Bone marrow blasts
Haemoglobin (g/dL)
Platelets (×1000 per µL)
Absolute neutrophils (×1000 per µL)

IPSS-R and IPSS-M

IPSS-R weights five variables into five risk groups [1]. IPSS-M adds mutations in 31 genes and moves about half of patients into a different group [2]; if a molecular panel is available, use the official IPSS-M calculator. Treatment details in the MDS lesson.
